The Shelborne By Proper

Went for a girls trip - it was everything we wanted & more. The vibe of this place is SO on point. Every detail is beautiful. The staff is exceptional (especially the house car driver Nick!). Beds were super cozy, pool was so relaxing, easy access to beach. 10 for 10!

Overall, we had a nice stay. The hotel is beautiful inside and very clean. The rooms are nice and the beds are comfortable, and the staff was consistently very friendly and welcoming. That said, there are a few things that could be improved. Service is a bit slow, especially at the pool and beach. It gets crowded by around 10 AM and there aren’t many servers, so you often have to flag someone down to order. The elevators are also extremely slow — we regularly waited close to five minutes for one. The bathroom in our room looks nice, but it definitely felt like it was designed by a man — only one sink and almost no counter space, which made getting ready a little difficult. There’s no where to hang a hand towel, and the placement of the towel hooks are in an awkward spot. I came with my husband, but the hotel definitely feels very girls-trip friendly.

We had such a wonderful stay at the Shelborne in Miami. The hotel is absolutely beautiful the design is stunning throughout, and both our room and bathroom were spotless and clearly crafted with real attention to detail. The bed was honestly one of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in. The location is incomparable you can’t beat being right in the heart of everything. And unlike many places in South Beach, the staff here was genuinely friendly, personable, and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Highly recommend and can’t wait to come back!

10/10 for service and accommodations. From the minute we got there we were greeted by every employee that we encountered and that didn’t stop our entire stay. Every single employee we interacted with provided great service. Basil, Danny, and Shane at the pool were attentive and very helpful whenever we needed anything. The food at the pool and through room service was fresh and arrived quickly. The room was spacious and clean and the whole property felt very kept up and welcoming. Would definitely stay again.

Beautifully renovated. The decor is very chic and tasteful. Shoutout to friendly pool staff. Reception was also helpful. The rates during our stay were crazy expensive but that’s Miami in high season for you. I loved the thick comfy pool chairs and the relaxing (non party) vibes. Food was also great. Also they are super dog friendly which was amazing. My only gripe is the windows in the rooms feel like hospital windows, a relic they kept and refurbished instead of replacing with something more modern. Ruins the expensiveness of the rest of the room. But great stay regardless.

Beautiful Restoration of an Iconic Miami Beach Property The Shelborne by Proper, part of the Design Hotels portfolio with Marriott International, is a stunning restoration of a true Miami Beach icon. We’re big fans of the Proper Hotels brand, and this property absolutely lives up to that reputation—perfectly located right on the sands of Miami Beach. We booked using Marriott Bonvoy points and ended up saving about $900 per night, which made the stay feel like an incredible deal. From the moment we arrived, the experience started off strong. The bell staff greeted us immediately, check-in was seamless, and we were offered water while getting settled. Walking through the hotel, you immediately notice the beautiful earthy tones, warm seating areas, and abundant live plants, which make the space feel welcoming and almost residential in the best way. We were upgraded to an ocean-view room on the 12th floor, and the view was outstanding. One thing to note: there are only two elevators serving the tower, and they’re shared with service and housekeeping, so wait times can be a bit long at times. That said, once you’re in the room, the experience is fantastic. The finishes and details are high-end, and while the bathrooms are on the smaller side, they include all the luxury touches you’d expect. The food on property is excellent—a bit pricey, but that’s pretty standard for Miami Beach. Housekeeping was also excellent, and any items we requested were delivered to the room quickly. When traveling, I always look for a great hotel gym, and since there weren’t many photos online I expected something small. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised to find a large, well-equipped fitness center with everything needed for a full workout. The hotel also offers daily yoga and other fitness classes, which are included in the resort fee. The pool area has great energy and is very well maintained, making it a perfect place to relax. We did experience an issue in our room on the first and second nights, but the management team went out of their way to make things right, which we really appreciated. Thank you to the team for addressing the situation and ensuring the rest of our stay was excellent. Overall, this is truly a five-star experience. The service is great, the design is stunning, and consistency like this can be hard to find in Miami Beach. Stay cool, Shelborne—we’ll definitely be back.

We had the best girls’ trip over Thanksgiving weekend at the Shelborne Miami, and the standout was the incredible service. Laura at the Beach Club took such great care of us—warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. She made every beach day feel special. Will and Andre at the bell desk were equally fantastic. From the moment we arrived, they were welcoming, helpful, and so much fun. Their energy set the tone for a wonderful stay. Thanks to this team, our weekend felt truly magical. We can’t wait to come back!

Beautiful hotel and property! Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a luxurious Miami Beach stay. Thanks to Adrian in the lobby for taking care of our luggage and coordinating a taxi for us. And to Angel and Levon at the Pool/Beach areas for the great service. If you appreciate interior design you have to see this hotel. The yoga and meditation classes were a nice surprise, as was the speakeasy. Only feedback: Noise from neighbouring rooms was disturbing at times. I wish there was more thought into pairing certain guests with adjoining rooms. More hooks in the bathroom would be appreciated.
